Primary outcome
Number of patients who (un)rightly use an ICS prescribed by the GP to treat COPD, regardless of whether the GP has correctly diagnosed COPD
Secondary outcome
1. Number of patients in which the diagnosis of COPD from the general practitioner is confirmed by the pulmonologist / physician assistant
2. Number of patients in which the COPD classification of the general practitioner is confirmed by the pulmonologist / physician assistant
3. Presence or absence of relationship between age of the patient and prescribing of ICS by the general practitioner
4. Presence or absence of relationship between gender of the patient and prescription of ICS by the general practitioner
5. Presence or absence of relationship between GOLD classification and prescribing of ICS by the general practitioner

Observational study to assess the (in)correct prescription of an ICS by the general practitioner in patients with COPD.

Inclusion criteria
1. ≥40 years of age
2. First visit to the outpatient pulmonary clinic after referral from the general practitioner for further diagnosis or treatment of COPD and / or asthma
3. Presence of the written or digital referral from the general practitioner
4.Presence of a pulmonary function test performed at the Meander Medical Center
5. documented presence of the diagnosis given by pulmonologist or physician assistant in the Meander Medical Center
Exclusion criteria
1. <40 years of age
2. active lung malignancy
3. Pleurecomtie and / or lobectomy in the medical history
4. Combination of COPD with other syndromes that have a negative influence on the outcome of the pulmonary function tests (including but not limited to: heart failure, combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema and sarcoidosis of the lungs), with the exception of the combination COPD and asthma
