Outcome measures
Primary outcome
Change in self-esteem, weekly measured before, during and after the intervention (DZM).
Secondary outcome
Change in well-being, weekly measured before, during and after the intervention (DZM).
Background summary
A multiple baseline single-case study will be conducted to investigate the effects of the Dramatherapeutic self-image Module (Dramatherapeutische Zelfbeeldmodule, DZM). Partcipants are clients of “De Boerhaven”, Centre for Personality disorders of Mediant GGZ, mental health centre, who have been diagnosed with a personality disorder and assessed to outpatient schema focused therapy, having a low self-esteem. They will first participate in psycho-education on schema-focused therapy (a regular part of the treatment) and after that in the DZM. Because both psycho-education and DZM take part in closed groups, there will be some waiting time which will differ for each cliënt. A baseline will be set during psycho-education and/or waiting time. There will be weekly measurements on self-esteem and well-being.
The measurements will start at the moment of inclusion and end 3 measurements after the end of the DZM. Primary outcome is progress of self-esteem, measured by the Rosenberg Self-esteem scale (RSES). Secondary outcome is progress of well-being, measured by the Mental Healt-Continuum- Short Form, at (MHC-SF).
Study objective
The dramatherapeutic Self-concept Module (DZM) will lead to improvement of self-esteem during and after participation in the Dramatherapeutic Self-image module in relation to the baseline, which has been set during psycho-education and /or waiting time.
Study design
Measurements will be weekly from the moment of inclusion till 3 measurements after the end of theDZM.
