Secondary outcome
(1) biochemical pregnancy, (2) mean number of amniotic sacs, (3) mean implantation ratio (defined as the number of amniotic sacs present divided by the number of embryo’s transferred), (4) miscarriage rate, (5) ectopic pregnancy rate (6) ongoing pregnancy rate and (7) difficult embryo transfer
Background summary
*The correct date of registration is 15-01-2019.*
Rates of elective CSs are rising worldwide. Late sequaelae of CSs related to a niche (CSdefect) include gynaecological symptoms and obstetric complications. A systematic review of Gurol-Urganci (2013) reported a lower pregnancy rate after a previous CS (RR 0.91 CI 0.87-0.95) compared to a previous VD. However the underlying cause is unclear, included studies do not differentiate between indication for fertilisation, embryo transportation, or embryo implantation. Using an IVF population offers the possibility to study the effect of a previous CS on the implantation of embryo’s in relation to a previous VD.
Study objective
A previous caesarean section does affect the reproductive outcomes including live births in women after In Vitro Fertilization or Intracytoplasmic Sperma Injection.
