Background summary
In the handrehabilitation team of Reade, many patients have been treated
because of the involvement of the hand and wrist due to reumatoid artrtitis
(RA) and osteoarthritis (OA). The treatment options are described in protocols,
which have been bundeled in a recently published "Reumahandboek". The
theapeutic interventions are mostly only based on expert opinion. Patients
express their satisfaction about the therapy and the results. But we need to
have more knowledge about the effects of our interventions, in order to work
towards evidence-based practice.
Therefore we need evaluation of the shortterm and lonterm effects of our
interfentions, focused on functions, activities and participation.
Study objective
By systematically evaluating the effects of our treatment of reumatic
handproblems:
1 we can clarify the effects towards patients, therapeutics and doctors, and
insurence companies
2 we can study in which patients our different treatments options are most
succesfull
3 we can select the assessment instruments that are most suitable for this
evaluations.
