Background summary
Society is aging, and the demand for support is increasing. This research focuses on how middle-aged people in the northern Netherlands, both with and without a migration background, prepare for aging. Preparing for aging is a crucial topic to enable older adults to live at home for as long as possible.
Middle-aged individuals (47-63 years old) are in a phase of life where they make important decisions about health, housing, finances, and social networks. For people with a migration background, a complex mix of cultural, social, and structural factors often influences their preparation.
Little is known about how this group prepares for aging and what they need to make this transition successful.
