Outcome measures
Primary outcome
diagnosis of acute pancreatitis during hypertriglyceridemia
Secondary outcome
Risk factors associated with normal amylase/lipase at diagnosis of acute pancreatitis whilst having a hypertriglyceridemia
The delay in days of diagnosis of acute pancreatitis in patients with hypertriglyceridemia
Background summary
We want to determine the incidence of normal serum amylase/lipase levels in patients presenting with hypertriglyceridemia and acute pancreatitis. Our hypothesis is that despite advanced laboratory techniques serum levels of amylase/lipase are <3 times ULN in patients presenting with hypertriglyceridemia during acute pancreatitis. The proposed study is a retrospective review of acute pancreatitis patients with concurrent hypertriglyceridemia. Reports of patients in a single peripheral hospital between the years 2005-2018 will be reviewed.
Study objective
Our hypothesis is that despite advanced laboratory techniques serum levels of amylase/lipase are <3 times ULN in patients presenting with hypertriglyceridemia during acute pancreatitis.
