Background summary
The intervention “De Nieuwe Toekomst” [The New Future] focuses on female victims of intimate partner violence (IPV) by offering them a new future perspective; by helping them becoming financial independent, the risk on future IPV decreases. The intervention will be studied in a mixed method design. A quasi-experimental study will be conducted to study the effectiveness of this intervention. For this study 300 female victims of IPV will be included in 10 municipalities, where 150 participants receiving “De Nieuwe Toekomst” will be compared to 150 participants receiving the usual care. In addition, a process evaluation will be carried out to explain the quantitative data.
Study objective
"De Nieuwe Toekomst" will empower female victims of intimate partner violence by making them financial independent which reduces the risk of intimate partner violence victimisation
Study design
T0: after inclusion, T1: 3 months after inclusion, T2: 6 months after inclusion, T3: 1 year after inclusion and T4: 1.5 year after inclusion
Intervention
The intervention group receives "De Nieuwe Toekomst" [The New Future], The control group receives the usual care
Inclusion criteria
1. Women who have been victims of intimate partner violence and are economically dependent (on their partners, receiving welfare or otherwise)
2. There is no longer a crisis situation or are not receiving professional care and / or assistance at the moment of inclusion
3. Understanding the Dutch language
Exclusion criteria
Women are not motivated to participate into the whole program or the effectstudy
