Outcome measures
Primary outcome
audiometry: presence of a transient threshold shift (TTS)
Secondary outcome
DPOAE: distortion product otoacoustic emisions
Presence of tinnitus by questionnaire
In case of tinnitus: tinnitus pitch and loudness matching
Study objective
Wearing earplugs at festivals will prevent hearing loss. This can be identified by the presence/absence of a transient threshold shift in a audiogram of a non earplug user in comparison to an earplug user.
Study design
measurement before festival = pre
measurement after 4,5 hours of music exposure = post
Intervention
wearing earplugs to the festival for at least 4,5 hours
