Outcome measures
Primary outcome
The primary outcome of this study is the quantitative operalisation of 1 of the top 10 goals.
These are behaviour indicators, observable and measurable behaviour of the child. The envisioned goal is a ‘small’ goal for which it is expected that within a short time observable and measurable behaviour can be seen. A number of relevant behaviour indicators are created that make clear how the child behaves in the context of the goal. These indicators will be created with help of a professional in the area of therapy and education for children with autism.
Secondary outcome
The secondary outcome are the experiences of the professionals (who are present at the sessions) with respect to reaching the goals. This is a qualitative reflection to (better) understand (the context of) why the children behave as they do.
To reach more insight into the factors that are important in (not) reaching the goals.
Background summary
Aim of the study
The goal of the study is to get insight into the contribution of using interventions with robot KASPAR to reaching therapy and/or educational goals of children with autism spectrum disorder in real world practices.
Research questions
The study has the following (quantitative and qualitative) research questions:
1. To what extent (how much) does KASPAR contribute to reaching therapy/educational goals for children with autism spectrum disorder compared to care as usual?
a. More specifically to what extent (how much) does KASPAR contribute to reaching the goal of “making contact” for children with autism spectrum disorder?
2. What are the (contextual) factors that influence/impact the extent to which therapy goals are reached?
