Background summary
the aim of the study is to test whether EMDR is effective to use as an intervention in order to reduce the severity and the burden of tinnitus and to determine whether the alleged effect of treatment is stable. The research is conducted with a within group design in a multicentre study (4 centres). The study population consists of adult and mentally competent patients (18-65 yrs) with chronic subjective tinnitus which are treated by the ENT doctor in hospitals involved and seriously suffer from tinnitus for more than 6 months.

Intervention
EMDR (Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing)
Inclusion criteria
age 18-65
TO: score on TFI > 54 (cut off point)
Tinnitus exists > 6 months
Exclusion criteria
communicationproblems in Dutch
severe depression, suicidal ideations
