Outcome measures
Primary outcome
The research population consists of minimal 300 outpatients (according COTAN guidelines for psychometric research) of the geriatric medicine department of Zuyderland Medical Centre Sittard-Geleen. Primary outcomes are the scores on the Gerontological Personality disorders scale GPS and Hetero Anamnestic Personality scale HAP.
Secondary outcome
.
Study objective
In this current research we investigate whether the GPS is a reliable and valid screening instrument for PDs in geriatric medicine, and therefore could be used as a supplement on the currently used assessment methods of the multi-problems associated with old age. Therefore, in current research, we investigate the diagnostic accuracy of the GPS, including internal consistency, test-retest reliability, construct validity and predictive validity in a Dutch geriatric medicine population.
Study design
Physicians and nurse practitioners of the department of geriatric medicine will approach patients to participate in current search in their first consultation. The informants are once asked (with content of the patient) to fill out the questionnaires. 50 of them will be asked to fill out the questionnaires 3 weeks later once again.
Intervention
Administration of two hetero anamnestic personality questionnaires by informants of outpatients who visit te department of geriatric medicine.
