Background summary
The Netherlands Cohort Study is a prospective cohort study ongoing since 1986 throughout the country. The study among 58279 men and 62573 women age 55-69 years aims to investigate the relationship between diet, lifestyle, genetic factors and risk of various cancers.
Study objective
The Netherlands Cohort Study (NLCS) investigates the relationship between diet, lifestyle and risk of various cancers.
Study design
Baseline (17-09-1986) postal questionnaire; annual cancer incidence follow-up of total cohort by record linkage to Cancer Registries and PALGA; biannual follow-up of subcohort for vital status
