Outcome measures
Primary outcome
Determinants of the ICM that explain dietary adherence after gastric banding.
Secondary outcome
Which determinants (ICM) that predict a successful outcome for dietary adherence.
Background summary
The current study uses a quantitative and cross-sectional design, due to the fact that a questionnaire is used at one point in time, no control group is used and no experimental manipulation takes place. Behavioral determinants are researched, involved in dietary adherence to create insight in dietary adherence behavior after gastric banding. Determinants are chosen with guidance of the I Change Model. The locus of control is measured not guided by the ICM.
Study objective
Better insight in the behavior of gastric banding surgery patients with use of determinants of the I Change Model (ICM), (knowledge, risk perception, attitude, social support, self-efficacy, intention and personality traits). Furthermore the determinant locus of control is measured for explaining dietary adherence. All determinants are measured with a single questionnaire at one timepoint.
