Background summary
In the Netherlands employees from Turkish and Moroccan descent are at greater
risk of becoming disabled, unable to work, because of psychological complaints.
In order to try to get these employees to return to work and make sure they
maintain part of the workforce the Trimbos-Institute has developed a treatment
protocol for Turkish, Moroccan and other non-western immigrants with work
related psychological problems.
Study objective
The objective of this study is to examine the feasibility of developing a
useful and transferable treatment protocol and to study the impeding and
facilitating factors of the implementation of the intervention in a
fieldsetting. The effects of the intervention on the psychological complaints,
quality of life and absenteeism of the clients will also be part of the focus
of this study.
Study design
This study is a feasibilitystudy containing a procesevaluation and a pre- and
posttest aimed at measuring the psychological complaints, quality of life and
absenteeism of the clients.
Intervention
Psychosocial intervention consisting of cognitive behaviour therapy for clients
with work related psychological problems.
Study burden and risks
There are no expected risks involved with the treatment.
The burden of this project for the client consists of the time they have to
invest in the pre- en posttest (interview and questionnaires).

Inclusion criteria
* Turkish, Moroccan or other non-western immigrant men and women between the ages 18 and 65
* with psychological problems
* and are absent from their job or are at risk of absenteeism
Exclusion criteria
* problems with substance abuse, psychotic symptoms and/or are suicidal.
* somatic problems that interfere with treatment for psychological problems
* conflict with colleagues which are already being dealt with legally
* wartrauma
