Primary outcome
Rotational disability of the forearm, compared to the other side, after forearm
fracture treated with Prevotnailing. Definition is more than 15 degrees
difference with the other side.
Secondary outcome
Interview: pain, daily functioning
Physical examination: scars, total range of motion elbow
Background summary
Forearm fractures in children are often treated with Prevot nailing. Literature
shows that 10-15% of them have a postoperative forearm rotation disability of
unknown origin. Question is whether these disabilities are caused by a bony
deficit and when it is, is it related to the ulna or the radius. This could
mean that in the future more attention has to be paid to the fixation of just
one of them and more attention for the rotation aspect. Purpose of this
retrospective study is to determine whether there is a bony deficit which
causes rotation disability.
Study objective
Purpose: is there a rotational disability after Prevotnailing of forearm
fractures in children and is this caused by a bony deficit.
Study design
Retrospective study: with a database we will search for all children treated
with Prevot nailing in the last ten years.
Study burden and risks
10-15% of the patients will have a CT-forearms with minimal radiation doses.
For all the other patients there are no risks.

Inclusion criteria
Forearmfracture, children (at time of injury under 18 years), Prevotnailing, population in last 10 years
Exclusion criteria
Other musculosceletal/neurological disabilities, which can influence the arm function.
