Outcome measures
Primary outcome
All words or combinations of words from participants will be analysed if it is
an existing wordt of the narratives or if it is a non-existing word of the
narratives. The amount of words, and the longest phrase (counted as the number
of words reported by the participant) comprised the Length of Speech
Illusion-score (LSI-score).

Background summary
Several studies have shown that patients with psychosis may have disturbances
of language processing. With the multispeakers task it is possible to
investigate differences in speech perception in patients with psychosis with
current auditive hallucinations, patients with psychosis without current
auditive hallucinations, healthy family members and healthy control
participants.
Because of an increased genetic vulnerability in first degree relatives of
patients with psychosis, a qualitatively similar disturbance of the semantic
network at a more attenuated level is expected.
Study objective
The aim of the present study is to investigate the semantic network of patients
with psychosis with current auditive hallucinations, patients with psychosis
without current auditive hallucinations, first degree relatives of patients
with psychosis and healthy control participants.
Study design
Before the execution of the present task, an audioscreening will be done to
exclude hearing loss/hearing problems.
During the multispeakers task, the subjects have to listen through a headphone
to speech record of six Dutch speaking people (three men and three women).
These sheets were put together in a multi-speakers-phonetic-noise/"babble" with
a totale duration of 2.5 minutes. The participants have to repeat as many words
or sentences that they *hear* at the same time while listening to the babble.
Study burden and risks
There are no medical or mental risks risks associated with participation of the
present study.
