Background summary
Alcohol dependence is a highly prevalent disorder with a large impact on
society. The disease has adverse physical, psychological, and social
consequences for patients and their relatives. Despite the high heritability,
little is known on the specific genetic risk factors

2. To investigate familial transmission of alcohol dependence and
addiction-associated traits (e.g., gambling, nicotine dependence, compulsivity,
ADHD)
3. To identify novel genetic variants which influence alcohol dependence
