Outcome measures
Primary outcome
Primary outcome measure is return to sport and activity.
Secondary outcome
Secondary outcome measures are range of motion, focal pain over the tendon
course and sensory loss, foot and ankle outcome score (FAOS), NRS pain score
and patient satisfaction.
Background summary
Tears in the peroneal tendons are relatively common and can be very
debilitating for the patient. Conservative management is often inadequate and
operative treatment is required. However, little is known about the long-term
outcomes of operative treatment in peroneal tendon ruptures.
Study objective
The objective of this study is to evaluate treatment of peroneal tendon tears
with primary debridement and tubularization, regarding patient's return to
sports and activity, patient reported outcome measure scores (PROMS) and
patient*s satisfaction.
Study design
A retrospective study will be performed.
Study burden and risks
Patients will be asked to visit the Academic Medical Center (AMC) for a
physical examination on both ankles and to fill out some questionnaires. No
risks are involved with this research.
