Outcome measures
Primary outcome
A correction of the pelvic tilt within 0.5 centimetres difference or a decrease
of pelvic tilt of 50% after an intervention with the KPR, measured using iliac
crest height.
Secondary outcome
Clincical leg length difference before and after treatment
ASIS PSIS angle before and after treatment
Background summary
Non specific low back pain is the most common disease in the Netherlands and
has an prevalence of over 2.500.000 patients. Pelvic dysfunction is
hypothesized as a cause for non specific low back pain. An asymmetric pelvic
position, anterior and/or posterior tilt, may cause low back pain by increased
loading on the lumbar spine in daily activities such as sitting or bending. In
literature, various treatments for non specific low back pain are present i.e.
manipulative therapy and mobilization and exercise therapy. Slight improvement
in pain levels and daily function can be shown for all kinds of therapy but no
complete releave. Recently, a new type of treatment plate, the Krullaards
Perfect Reset plate (KPR), was introduced in the Netherlands. It is
hypothesized that this device is able to restore the symmetry resulting in a
normal clinical leg length difference smaller than 0.5 centimeters and a
relexation of tensed muscles by using the impact of the autonomous nervous
system. This device must be scientifically evaluated and proven solid before
use in regular clinical practice will be possible in patients with non specific
low back pain.
Study objective
Does an intervention with Krullaards Perfect Reset therapy plate (KPR) realise
a correction of the pelvic position within 0.5 centimetres difference, measured
using iliac crest height, pelvic torsion and clinical leg length difference?
Study design
Double-blind randomized controlled trial
Intervention
25 participants will receive an intervention with the Krullaards Perfect Reset
therapy plate (KPR). This plate gives sensoric input for the muscles and the
autonomous nervous system by vibrations and light, while the patient make
specified knee-bending movements. The placebo group of 25 participants will
receive the same intervention on a look-a-like plate without sensoric input.
Study burden and risks
The only risk associated with the KPR intervention is muscle soreness for the
day after the intervention. Participants have to visit only once for twenty
minutes. During the visit four measurements and intervention/placebo treatment
will take place.
