Achtergrond van het onderzoek
The amount of hip arthroscopies performed has rised considerably in the last few years. These arthroscopies are often performed for the treatment of Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and/or labral pathology of the hip. However, it is unclear what the postoperative physiotherapeutic intervention should look like. Several studies have described rehabiliation protocols, but none have been thoroughly investigated.
Furthermore, there is no consensus regarding the long term results of this operation and rehabilitation. Numbers with regard to full recovery of the hip function and return to (sports) activities vary widely.
Previously a rehabilitation protocol based on clinical expercience and available literature was developed at Sport Medisch Centrum Papendal. It is unknown what the long term results of this protocol are. The aim of this study is to investigate the long term results of persons who underwent hip arthroscopy and were treated with this developed protocol. The hypothesis is that hip arthroscopy with postoperative rehabiliation leads to full recovery of hip function and return to (sports) activities.

Onderzoeksopzet
There is only one timepoint in this study; the follow-up measurement. This will take place somewhere between 0.5 – 3.5 years after surgery.
Onderzoeksproduct en/of interventie
All persons who underwent hip arthroscopy and followed rehabilitation at Sport Medisch Centrum Papendal between 01-01-2010 and 01-06-2013 will be contacted for a follow-up measurement. After voluntary agreement the measurement will be executed. This measurement consists of two questionnaires, a physical examination with strength tests and several (jump) tests and takes approximately 1.5 hours. Data will be analyzed and compared to current literature.
