Achtergrond van het onderzoek
Asthma is the most common chronic disease during pregnancy. Although existing studies show sufficient evidence for the relation between suboptimal asthma control in pregnancy and adverse outcomes (pre-term birth and low birth weight and increased maternal complications, as pre-eclampsia), the question remains how to optimize care for this large group of patients. To that end we need to identify subgroups of pregnant asthma patients at high risk of adverse outcomes who might benefit from more intensive monitoring and personalized treatment during pregnancy.
In this prospective follow up study , we aim to include all patients with asthma and pregnancy referred to the outpatient clinic of the HAGA Teaching Hospital. All patients are seen at week 1 and 6 of referral. further follow up depends on the current clinical condition. Maternal and fetal outcomes and delivery parameters are collected from all patients after delivery.

Belangrijkste voorwaarden om deel te mogen nemen (Inclusiecriteria)
All pregnant women (>18 year) with a doctor diagnosis of asthma referred to the asthma pregnancy outpatient clinic of the HAGA teaching Hospital.
We aim to include all patients, treated by by different health care providers, as early as possible in pregnancy. Inclusion can be performed by pulmologists, gynaecologist, general practitioners and midwifes
