Prevalence of inadequate nutrient intakes of school-aged children and women of reproductive age in Ivory Coast
Achtergrond van het onderzoek
The nutritional situation in Ivory Coast is marked by consistent and highly prevalent micronutrient deficiencies and the double burden of malnutrition, namely undernutrition (chronic or acute, underweight) and over nutrition (overweight/obesity). Despite knowing the poor nutritional status of children and WRA and the vital importance of nutritional status, little is known about food and nutrient intake in Ivory Coast. This project aims to understand the nutritional landscape in Ivory Coast, by assessing the habitual food, nutrient intake and the prevalence of deficiencies in the region of the most at risk populations school-aged children (SAC) (6-12 years old) and women of reproductive age (WRA) (15-49 years old).
