Achtergrond van het onderzoek
In this research we measure the effect of physical exercise on life quality of patients with a prostate carcinoma.
The participating patients are inlaid into a research group with physical exercise intervention or the control group with normal care.
The physical exercise intervention consist of: Patient and relatives receive physical exercise advice from the oncology nurse. It is adviced that patients practice moderate intensive physical exercise (e.g. walking or cycling) 4 to 6 times per week for at least 30 minutes. The patient's experiences are discussed during the regular contact moments in the hospital or during phone calls, in which any obstacles are solved in mutual consultation. Basis of the intervention is self-management; the physical exercise intervention should be practiced at home without supervision.
In both groups ther will be a zero measurement before randomisation and start of the treatment. Second measurement 6 to 7 months after the start of the treatment.
