PerfectFit 2.0

Obesity and unhealthy behavior are more prevalent among workers in low socioeconomic position. PerfectFit 2.0 aims to decrease the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases by developing and evaluating a health promotion intervention for workers in low socioeconomic position working at a hospital and a production company. The intervention consists of a Preventive Medical Examination (PME), feedback on results of the PME, tailored coaching by means of Motivational Interviewing (MI), and guided health interventions. A quasi-experimental design is applied, without randomization in an intervention and control group and without blinding of participants. Propensity score matching will be used to adjust for the influence of the selection bias on the voluntary choice to participate in PerfectFit 2.0. To assess the effectiveness of PerfectFit 2.0 participants will receive a short questionnaire 6- and 12 months after completing the PME with questions on health, lifestyle, and work. Effectiveness will primarily be reported on Body Mass Index (BMI) and bodyweight. Secondary outcomes include physical activity, smoking, fruit and vegetable consumption, alcohol use, waist circumference, self-rated health, work ability, and sickness absence.
