The extent to which following COVID-19 guidelines (e.g. social distancing, PCR testing when experiencing health issues) changes after administering a self-test.
Achtergrond van het onderzoek
This research program aims to investigate the effects of the provision of COVID-19 self-tests via Dutch food banks. The first study aims to investigate how use of self-tests relates to following of COVID-19 guidelines (e.g. social distancing, PCR testing when experiencing health issues). We also aim to generate insight into the demographic and psychological variables that hinder and facilitate (correct) self-test use. Furthermore, the first study period will provide opportunities for observations to determine how the self-test distribution process in food banks can be optimized to improve (correct) use of the distributed self-tests. In a second study, for which we will submit an amendment to this research program, an intervention to further improve (correct) self-test use will be tested. The components of this intervention will be developed based on the insights generated in Study 1.
Doel van het onderzoek
The investigation in phase 1 is exploratory in nature, so no directional hypotheses are preestablished for this aspect of the study; this includes perceptions of the self-test provision, factors that help and hinder (correct) self-test use, and factors in the distribution process may play in (correct) self-test use.
