Achtergrond van het onderzoek
Existing recommended treatment options for personality disorders (PDs) are extensive and costly. There is emerging evidence indicating that trauma-focused treatment using EMDR therapy aimed at memories of individuals’ adverse events can be beneficial for this target group within a relatively short time frame. The purpose of the present study is to determine the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of EMDR therapy. Additionally, the effects of EMDR therapy on trauma symptomatology, functioning and predictors for dropouts and treatment success will be investigated.

Ten biweekly sessions of Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy over the course of five weeks (compared to waiting list).

Belangrijkste voorwaarden om deel te mogen nemen (Inclusiecriteria)
A subject must be (1) at least eighteen years of age and (2) classified with any PD with the aid of the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-5 PDs (SCID-5-P).
Belangrijkste redenen om niet deel te kunnen nemen (Exclusiecriteria)
Subjects will be excluded if (1) their IQ is estimated beneath seventy or (2) their competency in the Dutch language is inadequate.
