3503 eligible patients of whom 197 excluded (5%);
VTE complications during follow-up in patients with initial normal tests:
1. in patients with CDR indicating PE unlikely and normal D-dimer 0.5 %;
2. in patients with normal helical CT: 1.3 %.

Belangrijkste voorwaarden om deel te mogen nemen (Inclusiecriteria)
Adult patients more than 18 years old with clinically suspected pulmonary embolism.
Belangrijkste redenen om niet deel te kunnen nemen (Exclusiecriteria)
1. Pregnancy;
2. Allergy to contrast media;
3. No geographic possibility to return for follow-up;
4. Treatment with therapeutic heparin for more than 24 hours;
5. Indication for thrombolytic therapy.
